BIO

Zooey Cheng is a classical pianist and music educator based in Boston. She actively gives solo recitals and collaborates with instrumentalists across various venues in America and Asia.

Zooey received her BM in piano performance at Soochow University, Taiwan, and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at Mannes School of Music, where she studied with the prestigious Russian pianist Arkady Aronov and Irina Morozova. Zooey also received coaching from Heidi Louise Williams, Meng-Chieh Liu, Chih-hung Shang, and Alexander Sung during her studies. In 2019, Zooey received a merit scholarship from Mannes School of Music to pursue advancement to a higher level in piano performance. Later, she was also awarded a government scholarship from the Ministry of Education in Taiwan.

As a piano educator, Zooey has served the individual needs of her students by teaching them artistic knowledge and the creative process for more than a decade. In 2022, she received a Steinway & Sons as a Teaching Artist. Zooey currently holds her private piano studio in the Boston area.

In the past, Zooey served as the piano accompanist for the New Amsterdam Boys and Girls Choir and the Musica Viva NY Choir in New York City. She has also worked as a collaborative pianist at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the Chelsea Public Schools, engaging with students, faculty, guest artists, and the wider local music community. Beyond her performance work, Zooey brings her expertise to the administrative side of the performing arts. She works with the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA), reinforcing her dedication to advancing the field.
